Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour victory, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
