Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Strategists tables.
